Was that not where they originally envisioned the science centre tower going?

OMG!!!
I had no idea it was that bad.
Why are they not getting the jet spray onto that?
It's worse than the gum problem.

My overriding memory of those shops is standing there as a wee wean with my mum waiting for the bus to Toryglen. One of the shops must've been something like a travel agents because it had this cracking big model of an airliner in the window and I'd stand staring at it, wishing I could play with it, then the bus would come.

I don't know how old you are but i think the BEA/BOAC bus departure point for Abbotsinch was there. It was turned into a club in the seventies.

st enoch centre set to get bigger......

http://www.theherald.co.uk/news/77061.html

Glasgow's reputation as a shoppers' paradise will be further enhanced if approval is granted today for the expansion of St Enoch Centre.
At 1.3 million sq ft, it would become the biggest shopping centre in Glasgow and, with a nightclub, casino and multi-screen cinema, one of the largest retail and entertainment complexes in Scotland.

As much as I'm not keen on the place, the glass roof does at least make it distinctive. Those pictures make it look as dreary and box like as all the rest!
