A runner ? what, Colin Barr ? surely not.
If this is the case I shall go and defecate on one of his premises.

This in the Evening Times tonight...

City style king's flagship venue in mystery closure
THE BASTILLE, which used to be known as Sloan's, opened less than a year ago following a revamp THE flagship venue of style-bar boss Colin Barr has shut without warning.

The Bastille Taverne, formerly Sloan's of the Argyll Arcade - just off Buchanan Street, has been closed for a week with no explanation.

Industry sources claim the bar, one of the city's oldest, has run into financial difficulties - barely a year after it reopened following a massive revamp under Mr Barr's ownership.

Companies House, the statutory body with which all firms must register, has said accounts for the venue are four months late and the annual return is also now overdue.

The sudden closure of the Bastille comes just months after Mr Barr, the ex-husband of Glasgow style queen Kelly Cooper Barr, shut his award-winning seafood and cocktail venue Salty Dog in Princes Square.

A source said: "On the face of it the Bastille looked to be doing quite well.

"It was usually busy and had a decent courtyard for smokers."

Last year Mr Barr told the Evening Times how it had been his dream to take control of Sloan's, which first opened in 1825.

The 46-year-old publican, who owns the Republic Bier Halle chain, has been credited with helping make Glasgow's bars amongst the most stylish in the UK.

The Evening Times attempted to contact Mr Barr and his accountants but got no reply.

(by the way, should this not be merged with the Bastille thread in Pubs/Clubs/Restaurants?)

Dealt with him years ago. He did everything in his power to bump people for money. If brewery bosses keep insisnt on giving him pubs, more fool them. Even when he shared a flat with friends in Amsterdam during the 80s he was the same then. Always on the blag. He was the man along with Ronnie McCulloch during the original days of the Tunnel but again he was found out and asked to leave.
Thank you. And why not.
