I totally despise adverts, which is funny considering I work in the advertising industry.

It doesn't matter how funny/clever they are, its still people trying to sell you shit that you don't need or want.

And why is it that all the ad breaks seem to happen at the same time (on digital tv at least)?

It shows you the power of advertising. Even today if I suddenly find myself in an unexplainable situation I say "pea and ham.....from a chicken?"

Remember the guy thinks his wife has killed Moira the chicken.

I met him once. And asked him if he still gets recognised for it. He said no. But he was surprised it still got shown....

Pea and ham - from a chicken

Postby skintobalinto » Thu May 13, 2004 11:39 am

The original guy who uttered the immortal the phrase "Pea and ham - from a chicken, now thats amazing" was Phil McCall (now sadly passed away) I used to see him drinking in the Old Stag Inn in Polllokshaws - I think it really pissed him off that it was what most people remembered him for when he had done in lots of TV and theatre work. The last thing he done was Monarch of the Glen.

Not an advert and not my favourite but we live in a country of free speech and aw that. I cringe when i see the bits between programmes with the news readers just staring at the cameras and the wee tune.

One of them is getting his make up touched up and Sarah Heany is meant to be looking sultry come on the lassie dated Craig Brown!!

Didn't she??

No. She didn't. You're thinking of someone else.

Just been corrected that it was David Murray. I will publish my apology to Ms Heaney and Craig Brown for any distress caused  ::):

Two things:

1. I'm sure Craig Brown would be delighted! No need to apologise.

2. She dumped David Murray to go out with famously-rubbish Aberdeen footballer John Inglis. As an Aberdeen fan, I love hearing that story....
