Sorry to jump in so late. Great to see some of the locations of previous Lord Provost's lamps and the fact that some people remember the Lord Provost.

As a Ruchazie boy I passed the LP/LPs just off Riddrie Knowes many times. The house was previously the residence of Donald Liddle

I beleive they were still at the house long after he lived there.

Provost's House?

Postby onyirtodd » Sun Mar 05, 2006 5:41 pm

Can anyone confirm that, at one time, an official residence came with the job of Lord Provost. The double fronted building at 194 Bath Street was mentioned in this context but it may have been an urban myth.
A few years back it certainly had a glass domed ceiling to the rear which I was told had been the ballroom.
238 to 127. All in all a good afternoon's work

I'd go with myth, as the books I have all referred to Baillie Lamps being installed or removed from the office holder's own residence, but I'll be interested to see if anyone comes up with anything else.

Hi Cat

Would you beleive Gartcraig Road. in the fives next to the wooden bridge that became the flyover at the M8.

Attended Ruchazie Primary, was in the BB at Ruchazie Parish Church upto 1977. I left Ruchazie in 1982 but my mum and dad were there till 1999.

Hi Alex
You are quite right. Even after 12 years on the internet, I still keep being gobsmacked by the connections that can be made, and the information that individual people are willing to post that links with information I already know.
Best wishes

Cleeves Road now that is spooky.

When and where? I just move to Cleeves two years ago.

I have made some family connections on the internet. And met cousins I didn't until I found them whilst doing Family History Research.

That's Alex Mosson's lovely pair!
