It would appear that if you want to rid the city of any particular building
1) Erect 'Herras' fencing around the building
2)GDC building Control will do the rest!

3.Some of the disused buildings at Yoker(the sheds on view from Dyke Road/Dumbarton Rd end...may be part of the old Yarrow's?)

Three "buildings" that I would rid Glasgow of are (and not neccessarily with a bulldozer);

All major petrol stations.

All fast food outlets.

All shops with 'Closing down - Final Clearance' posters in

Paladin, you been visiting Dumbarton again :P

Forgot to mention Dumbarton High street with all it's
"everything you can get for a quid" shops. Wonder
how long before someone sets up a 50p shop

Amusing thread.

Stow College. I hate that building.

The Savoy Centre (and a lot of Sauchiehall Street).

Probably have to go for either Adam Smith or Boyd Orr. AS is such a badly designed building too, on two different levels on each side, it's so stupid. If not, I'd probably go for St Enoch, the glassyness of it is horrendous.

1. Without a doubt, the Boyd Orr, hideous in the extreme
2. Half of Strathclyde University, concrete behemouth complex
3. Stow College, at least the bricks could be recycled

Looks like a growing theme

That new block of flats on the North East corner of Glasgow Cross (Merchant Building?) which is now blocking my view of the Tolbooth Steeple clock

The Adam Smith - the only building I know where you can get out of the lift on the 5th floor and walk up to the 4th.

The Boyd Orr - described by the late, great Prof Philip Hobsaum to a first-year class c1982 as: "This....this....this monumental insult to the greatest Scotsman of our century...."

Adam Smith is an insult to the Father of Economics! I wish his invisible hand would come down hard on the building..he he. (Hope it's not just me who gets that).

AS though, in all it's wisdom, put in a lift so disabled people could get to all floors. I'd love to know how they are to get to the lecture theatre on T4, as the lift goes to S5 and S6, neither of which is the same level. Hmmm. I've never understood that building. I'm tempted to say knock it down cos then I'd get a nice new one (to go with my new West Quad dept!). But it's only the medics who get shiny new buildings these days, isn't it?

Buchanan Galleries - the most spectacular example of non-joined up thinking in Glasgow's history, I think. You have a gap site slap bang between the city's main bus station, concert hall, the second-biggest train station and an underground station. It's a city notorious for wet weather and has a looming gridlock problem. So what do you do? Aye, that's right - built a huge shopping centre with no covered connection to any of those other amenities, and bolt a 2000-space car park on to it. Congratulations.
Alhambra House - also known as the JP Morgan building on Waterloo Street. The area's got plenty of glass-covered non-entities, but this lump's attempt to look interesting just annoys me. Polished blonde granite? Euch...
Shawlands Arcade - before and after its renovation. Anyone ever seen a film called 'Glasgow 1980'? The arcade has a starring role as the way of the future. I still burst out laughing at the commentary...

Aye, if something better replaces it. Shouldn't be too hard given that they've already had one go...

Sorry John don't agree with you on the Wedge.

Given time and when the new Silverburn Shopping Centre is complete together with the improvements at the Civic Realm (Pollok Heath Centre and Leisure Pool) the Wedge will not look out of place.

I don't have a strong opinion on building to intoduce to a bulldozer. There are some that I wish were cleaned up. But that would be another thread.
