This site makes for some interesting reading to see how Historic Scotland looks after one of its sites in a famous location. Pity they're a quango, so can't be compared to the council
The website seems to be a bit old now, and a number of links are dead, but you can still read about things like the proposed sewage dumping from 200,000 annual visitors direct into Loch Ness and how a Park & Ride was rejected by HS when proposed by locals, but supported when the authorities pushed it through later.

There used to be a webcam overlooking the castle and loch, and I never gave it a thought when it disappeared a few years ago, now I know why.
