God damn it, I missed another introduction thread before starting posting.

So, I'm Thierry, 29, from Bruges in Belgium, and I've registered on there because I've already traveled to Glasgow two years ago with my girlfriend and would like to go back, and this time, we'd like to go to the really interesting places instead of just going to tourist traps we've found on Google.
Apart from traveling, I like metal music, beer and crossbow shooting.

See you soon, I hope!

Well, here's the comic about the phrase Honeypears, if you are still interested! - only a decade late in posting a reply, sorry. (Note a well-known HG member's guest appearance on page 2.)

Hi Sharon
Hi all I am MA Filmmaking student at the UWS. I am researching for a short documentary around the Gorbals Vampire event that happened in the Gorbals in the 1950s. I am looking to source archive material from that time, photographs and film. It doesn’t have to be Gorbals anything from Glasgow at the time will be fine. I already have Mediatique at the Bridgton Library, The Scottish Screen archive and the Mitchell library on my list. I was hoping the forum could suggest others, or perhaps the members have their own photographs and films they would be willing to let me use in the film? Fully credited of course. My email address is [email protected] Thanks in Advance. Colin

I am not sure how to make a fresh post :)

Hi Everybody!

I am Douglas.
I was born and lived in Glasgow for 30 years, but for the last 30-odd have lived on the Isle of Bute.
As they say, you can take the boy (boy?!) out of Glasgow............
I still love to visit and usually stay with my daughter, but boy how it has changed since the 80s!
Have been a lurker on this site for some time and joined last year, but this is my first post, so prepared for pelters.
Look forward to becoming more acquainted with the site and members.

I'm Samuel, a professional essay writer. Glasgow is a great city and it's really beautiful in nights. I have visited the city last year and have memorable moments, still. The SEC Armadillo and River Clyde, Glasgow Harbour, and Glasgow Science Center are worth to visit. I enjoyed a lot and will definitely be planning for the holidays again. What's up with you guys?

Hello Everyone,

I'm Eoghann and I'm a Glasgow local.

I've just joined this forum because of a thread I read titled 'Mystery at Lennox Castle' - give it a search and have a read if you haven't already. I understand that this is a cold case, but it's an enthralling read that's caught my mind and I'd love to get to the bottom of it. Any help any of you could give would be highly appreciated.

Hope to hear from you all soon.

I am a Glasgow local.... since 2015. :) Before that I lived in London for over half a year becasue, like all the other emigrants without imagination, I could not think of another city in Britain. Before London I lived in Bulgaria. By the way, I was born in a former mining city there, the city of Pernik. It, just like Glasgow, passes for the birthplace of the roughest red-necks in the country who speak a language that is hard to understand. I didn't like it.
I am not an economic migrant. Believe it or not, I used to earn more per hour in Bulgaria than I do here. But money is not everything.
I write a book on why communism fell and I have no company apart from my girlfriend who doesn't like intellectual conversations. We have nothing to talk about except annoying each other by sizeists remarks. (I burst into laughter by fingint ways to say how big she is and she responds by commenting how small I am :).) So, I need to twadle with somebody, preferably in person, but an internet forum will do as well.
I am also interested in WWII, the Orion nuclear-propulsion project, the collonizations of Mars, the Thorium energy and other thigns.

Hello All, My name is Alan Moore I live in London. Many years ago from 1969-72 I was a submariner based in Faslane during those years I frequented Glasgow regularly and obviously the pubs. I remember the Grafton if I am right was virtually opposite Tiffany’s and the Electric Gardens and especially the Lunar 7 which drew me to this site. I was go out with a lovely young lady called Annette from Kirkintilloch she worked in M&S on Argyle Street we visited many pubs I can’t remember all their names but the Lunar7 stuck out in my memory as we went in there in early 1971 and Badfingers record “No matter what” was blasting out so much so we couldn’t hear each other speak but a great pub. I had so many wonderful times in your city and many a time rolling down to Atlantic House in Waterloo Place looking for a bed for the night as the last blue train from Queens Street to Helensburgh had left ages ago. Happy Days God Bless Glasgow Cheers Alan

F8 Where T Ash yard now stands.jpg
Hi all my names Eric, I have been viewing these boards for a few years now and find them fascinating. I dont own a camera (I'm a bit of a luddite and would't even entertain a mobile phone so I dont have any pictures to post.) I feel I could contribute though to some of the boards (Parkhead, Shettleston and surrounding areas). I was born in 1956 and still stay local so I've seen all the changes.
I was wondering if anyone could throw any light on a picture I came across recently. If any of the members stayed in the Shettleston area they would remember the smell from the gut works roundabout where Tommy Ashes yard is today. This picture seems to be from roundabout there and I think it was these works. The name of the works is " The Universal Casinos Co. Ltd " and they apparently manufactured "Swallow Brand" Tennis Strings. Anyone any the wiser ?
