Volunteer here, glad to help neilmc.

1988 was the year of the Glasgow Garden Festival and the year my Dad passed away.

Curious why you have a 1988 Glasgow Telephone Directory to hand.

I looked at the On Line BT Directory and the word Planet coughs up:
Cool Planet Technologies, Forbidden Planet Ltd, Planet, Planet Beauty, Planet Number and Planet Pooch.

Volunteer here, Driving through Slamannan you can't miss the Morris Minor Two Door Saloon in Black probably 1962 model.

Closer inspection revealed there is a fan fitted to the dashboard facing the driver. Must be fro cooling the driver down.

Not for me I have an Auxiliary Electric Heater fitted to augment the in car heater. In winter it is Baltic with the draughts coming in the doors.

The last thing I need is an internal cooling fan.

My idea of Air Conditioning is you open the window, you close the window or you leave it partially open.

No problems with air-conditioning in the cab of this Scotstoun-built Albion:-

Volunteer here, You're right neilmc.

With no side windows and solid rubber tyres the Albion must have been a joy to drive.

A few years back I went on a Group Visit to Summerlee Heritage Centre one summers evening.

The Tram Boys taught us how to drive a couple of trams. The Belgian model and the Lanarkshire Tram.

The Lanarkshire Tram had no screen, design taken from the horse drawn era,

The Driver was issued with a heavy coat, cap and gauntlets, luxury.

Volunteer here, Good Pics from the Riverside BTJustice. Particularly like the Vauxhall Velox.

Recently I posted a Subaru Samba with the VW kit fitted residing in the West End of Glasgow.

On a trip down the entire Kintyre Peninsula I stopped at the top of the Rest and Be Thankful.

See Away From Glasgow for a pic.

There at the top of the Rest parked up was a Subaru Samba with German plates. Quite a few German plates touring just now.

Hi Volunteer, the Subaru model is a Sambar and the VW bus with 23 windows (the top of the range ) is a Samba.

I went for a wee paddle in Biggar a few weeks ago;

Volunteer here, BTJustice thanks for the info.

I'll try to get along to the meet on the 5th of July.

I am in Covington Mains Farm, Thankerton near Biggar that afternoon for a Wreath Laying Service with the Lanarkshire Association of Burns Clubs. It's an annual get together to commemorate a memorable visit their by Robert Burns who stopped overnight en route to Edinburgh.

A slightly more modern Datsun: not a Sunny, but a Cherry owned by my mate Harry Longabaugh (I've blanked his coupon as he's now a highly-respected member of the local community under his real name).

Photo taken near Kelso, 1982.

That Datsun is still alive with what looked today like welded on sills! Followed it along Gt Western Road at the bit
where it cross the canal going towards Knightswood Cross about 5.45pm

Volunteer here, One rainy day in Biggar.

A beautiful Sunbeam Talbot in the Main Street.

Driving Miss Daisy is the way I would put it.
