Although saying its the best pub in Shettleston isn't really saying very much.....places like the Sheiling (now closed) and the Cottage Bar had a reputation for being gangster pubs. The Town Tavern and the Marquis also had reputations that proceeded them. The Kirk House is OK though - its probably the only family oriented pub along the whole street.

Did the Old Eagle Inn remain until St Enoch was demolished? It was still open in 1976.

I was in the New Monaco once and only once.
It had the most scary barmaid you could imagine.
She was about 5ft by 5ft and built like a brick lavy.

Spent a few quid in the Monaco when I worked in Templeton Carpets.

He achieved fame as the guy on the K Tel ad for their soul compilation Superbad in 1974.

He used that to relaunch his singing career

and in 1979 he joined Radio Clyde.

The List you mentioned is featured in the Evening Times. I don't know who compiled it but I found this on a soul site
DATE: 1972
VENUE: THE ROOSTER
LOCATION: GLASSFORD STREET, GLASGOW CITY CENTRE
DJ's: ED ROBINSON, RAYMOND DAVREN

I don't know Ed nor when he was landed with Mr Super Bad but that was the title of a 1970 James Brown single from whom everything funky descends.

He seemed to be a nice guy but he tended to talk over the records on his Sunday night show.
