I'd recommend Frankie's books too. I'd also recommend even those who don't particularly like him give this a go:

30 minutes of Frankie in conversation with comics writer Grant Morrison.

I'm still plodding through SS-GB by Len Deighton, but I'm tempted to give up on it.

"Age of Zeus" by James Lovegrove.

Second book in The Pantheon series. Military sci-fi in which the old gods (in this case the Greek ones) come back to Earth in more or less the present day and basically tell people "Behave, or else". Needless to say a small group of renegades aren't happy with this.

I read the first book "Age of Ra" (which featured the Egyptian gods) a couple of years ago. Just happened to see the rest of the series at the library.

And if it's all we only pass this way but once, what a perfect waste of time.

On the Natural History of Destruction by W G Sebald. Being an essay about Germany's and especially German literature's failure to speak of the utter destruction of its cities during the Second World War, apparently. Cheerful. I'll tell you how it goes.

The Jeeves omnibus, volume 4.

Not quite sure why it's taken me till now to read Wodehouse, but I'm deeply glad I finally did.

Having finished the above, I've started "Back From the Brink" by Peter Snowdon on the Tories long road back to power after the Blair landslide in 1997.
It's interesting to see these early takes on recent history.

Just finished "Back From the Brink",really enjoyed it but will give the political stuff a wee rest now - well once I've got through the John Wheatley biography.

"Age of Voodoo" by James Lovegrove.

Book five in The Pantheon series.
Caribbean Island, voodoo, zombies, base under siege, Navy SEAL team, blah blah blah.

Not bad, but not up to the standard of earlier books in the series, "Age of Zeus" and "Age of Odin" in particular.

All last year, in the back of my diary, I kept a note of the books I had read, and there was a total of twenty books, good, bad and indifferent. The two most interesting books I read were "Porridge and Passion" by Jonathon Aitken and "David Niven" by Michael Munn. If you want to find out the truth about David Niven, read the Michael Munn book.

In the Munn book, you are told what Niven said and then what the real truth was. Don't read "The Moon is a Balloon" by Niven - the Munn book lets you see the real David Niven.

I've gone back to my teenage past (a long time ago) and started to re-read some early Moorcock.
On the first book of Corum (Knight of Swords).
He advocated for the weak against the strong, the poor against the rich and labour against capital.

"Age of Godpunk" by James Lovegrove.

Three novellas from The Pantheon series, "Age of Anansi", "Age of Satan", and "Age of Gaia".

I was given that book, at the age of sixteen, by a friend of the family - a female primary school head teacher. I still have no idea of the reasoning behind it.
