...you swear a wee bit when you realise that, as of next year, God Save the Queen by the Sex Pistols will sit exactly half way between us and the Battle of Britain.

You see the TV ads for Now 85 just having been released, then you realise you have Now 3 on a cassette which you bought in 1985.....

You get the chance of tickets to an outdoor concert and decide not to go because "it might rain".

When the other half comes into the living room asking "Are you missing this?" holding my right slipper in her hand - I hadn't even noticed I wasn't wearing it!

But it got worse - she then asked "Is there any significance it was inside the fridge?"

Wearing my pants on the outside of my trousers can't be too far away!!!!!!!!!!! :D

You still get enthused over a Sony tape deck that has a 3-motor, 3-head transport, separate bias controls and Dolby HX Pro noise reduction!

I used to have a shelf full of Tommy Vance Friday Rock Show recordings. I bought all the music on them and wiped the tapes. How I wish I hadn't.

Cue Dixie Dregs, "Take It Off The Top"...

Going off-piste slightly here, but I continued family tradition some years ago by backing the wrong technological horse (my dad went for Betamax instead of VHS); by replacing my cassette collection with Sony MiniDiscs. Low and behold that technology sank without trace thanks to Steve Jobs....and I am listening to the old cassettes again (the MiniDisc machine is now in the attic....). Fun listening to old 1980s/1990s music from the radio I recorded from Radio Clyde! Even managed to get some of the old Glasgow adverts of the period. (Forrest Furnishings; Tedesco Tiles, Peat Road Motors :))

When compilation CD's are advertised on TV as an ideal gift for fathers day and all the songs are the ones you listened to at school and college.

You have to tick the 4th or 5th box in surveys when it asks your age group.
