Recently demolished buildings.

Postby An Taigh Sear 14 » Tue Oct 16, 2012 3:34 pm

In the space of the last week I have noticed a couple of buildings with the demolition people in.
One is the Synogogue up at Stamperland in Clarkston and the other is the "Model", James Duncan House at Bell Street in the Barras. I am guessing that at a push the "model" is being flattened to tart the place up a bit before 2014, but I am surprised to see the Synogogue flattened over in the Sou'side..

Various old factories are down in the Shawfield area. Recently got myself into an old garage thing, wasn't difficult, door was wide open. Quite good to just nosey around in that whole area. Wait until the weekend though when that place is DEAD.

The synagogue on Clarkston road (actually on Randolph drive according to its postman) is being cleared for residential care home, warden controlled flats.

I knew the vacant plot beside it had sold, this had been between the synagogue and tennis courts but I didnt know they were flattening the synagogue as well.

Building above me would still be standing if the guys owning the shop at the corner (not in the pictures) hadn't messed with the basement area to create a new storage unit for themselves. Done a runner to Pakistan and haven't been seen or heard since.

I understand down in the basement water dripping from an overhead pipe had seeped into nearby wooden structural supports/beams over a long period of time. This was slowly turning the wood to pulp and the building had to be evacuated and demolished or it would`ve fell down. One of the workmen on the site told me that roundabouts last August.
