Ahh right I thought it was a bit more romantic than that - a retired Danish sea captain who fell in love with a Glasgow girl .......and then opened a pub

I was going steady with a girl who lived in the fire station in Kelbourne St and after I'd taken her home I'd walk up to the comic shop, bought some graphic horror comic and walked down Maryhill Rd reading it to where I lived at St Georges X. If I read it very slowly, taking in everything on its pages and walked quickly I could get as far as the Seamore cinema by the time I'd finished it.
Next night I'd do the same, always taking the previous evenings comic in with me to 'trade it in' for a bob off the cost of the next one - did that for almost a year and then I bought a Lambretta scooter, but that's another story.
