Highburgh Road

Postby Timchilli » Thu Jun 23, 2011 2:14 pm

Afternoon, all.

Unless I'm being a spacker of the highest order, I can't seem to find many historical photos of Highburgh Road near its intersection with Byres Road.

Can anyone help?

Cheers,

TC

I think it was called something different and then renamed Hyburgh Road? I seem to recall an old sign painted on the tenement blocks around there....

No, I'm pretty sure it was called Highburgh Road from when it was built, but that was only about 1895 or so. Byres Road also used to be called Victoria Street remember.

Ah well, it must just be the old painted street sign below the new metal ones but with the same street name.

Found this good page that lists all streets that have changed name. http://www.glasgowguide.co.uk/info-streetschanged2.html
