no access to the m74 if you come over the kingston heading south, continue along the m8 till j23 ibrox come off and go straight back on heading north and you can get the m74 ramps b4 the bridge, m74 planners missed a trick here

because it tales them 30 min to get from one side of the city to the other just now but one can be in falkirk with in 30 min or boloch. go figure.

or it could be that one may want to go from parkhead to greenock and not take 30 min to get from one side of town to the other!!! i

I personaly cant wait for it to complete.

Worth every penny, so it is. Heaven forbid that anybody might have to go anywhere, anytime at less than a respectable 60mph.

Hi there,

Does anyone know what date the M74 will open to vehicles? I can find info on the official Royal opening online but not about when I will be able to drive down it to go from Hamilton to the Airport and Braehead?

Also- does anyone know what is going to happen about the junction numbers?? It seems to have been left very late ("opening June") to change a lot of signage etc...

Here you go - this was just on the BBC news website today.

Fairly detailed info, but it's almost as if they did no drawings of the scheme - they could have done a nice graphic to show all the routes. Should imagine it is quite confusing for some...

quetion is are you going to be able to access the M73 from the neew M74 and go north towards ballieston and pick up the M8 and vice versa, if yes then it will avoid a hell of a lot of traffic from townhead towards the kingston bridge

Aye, for a year or so at most. Road traffic expands to fit the available capacity. And then a bit more. It's why building new motorways is ultimately an extraordinarily expensive way of standing still.
