School that used to be a hospital

I recently heard that St Ninian's Primary School located at 2150 Gt Western Rd (opposite Knightswood golf course) was once a hospital? Anyone any information?

I remember my history teacher in Holyrood Secondary telling the class once that it was used as a hospital during the war. He pointed out that the door frames, (which although we used all the time but never took notice of) were once a lot wider than the normal sized doors that are fitted today. We could clearly see the old frame outlines still there. He told us that they were this wide to allow hospital beds to be wheeled in and out.
