yep - looks like the whole project is cancelled.

Paisley keeps their football pitches
Glasgow gets mega-congestion in 2014.
What will happen to platform 13 at Central Station?

As far as I'm aware work improvements (scheduled works) between Glasgow and Paisley have still to go ahead including the third track for which a few road bridgeton between Hillington East and hillington West station are being widened at present to make way for the third track. The platform 12 extenstion and construction of the new platform 13 at Glasgow Central High Level station has also to go ahead, starting from the end of this month in order to tackle platform capacity (number of trains per platform) issues at present and to make way for the Class 380 E.M.U. Desiro train which will be entering service in Autumn 2010.

What about the promise the city made to the Commonwealth Games people about the Glasgow Airport Rail Link? Is that just to be abandoned and forgotten about?

Yup.

Absolutely unbelievable.

What about cancelling the disastrous M74 extension? Ah, but that would go against SNP/Labour's bizarre road-worship fetish.

from what i have heard the only reason is that it was the fuel tanks moving going from 40m to 400m that has ko'd it

i really hope they use some of the money to re-open and electrify paisley canal to elderslie as that will bring one heck of a lot of benefits as even with the 3rd line sheilds to arkleston will still be overcrowded as you still have bottlenecks between sheilds jnc and bellahouston and on the approach to arkleston jnc

" Purcell went on to say: "There's either been some serious mismanagement that has to be examined or there is a great deal of double accounting going on within the current budget process."

I would agree with him. I dont the the guy but he does seem pastionte about the plight of Glasgow. Not only with this projects but others i have heard him talk about. I still think the SNP were acting with a bit of premature ejaculation on there decision . I just hope they will re-evalulate the project and take the riddy and get it back on stream.
Thank you. And why not.

Is there any money? Whilst I don't doubt re-opening and electrifying Paisley Canal to Elderslie might bring some benefits to some folk it can hardly be compared to the promised direct link to and from Glasgow Airport.

Looks like this is where the GARL money went.

Aberdeen bypass given green light by ministers.

Yet more anti Glasgow bias.
