Brilliant MK! ::):

Had hoped to have been posting some pics of the Tattoo from up on the gantry tonight but thanks to the weather chucking it down I didn't even bother getting the camera out. Hopefully if the weather improves I'll get back over before it finishes, it's quite a nice view from up there :)

Thanks Crusty and Alex :)

I did enjoy it Alex, I'm house-sitting in Edinburgh for the next couple of weeks so I wanted to make a point of seeing the fireworks this weekend after missing the opportunity of getting pics of the tattoo. Bonus points from having a few beers with mates and only a 15 minute train journey back to bed afterwards :)

Crusty, I really like the second pic but I posted both as I like the way the fireworks illuminate part of the castle. The fireworks were fantastic although it was a bit breezy so hard to get the shots I wanted to.

You get a sense of the breeze from the first photo.

Sounds like you had the best of both worlds Invy. Glad to hear you had a good time.

I did thanks Alex, it's handy being over here at the mo as it makes other places more accesible by public transport - caught a train over to Burntisland earlier - 29 minutes, it normally takes the best part of three hours. Always wanted to go get some sunset photos at the docks so mission accomplished this evening :) Hopefully I'll post one or two in the next couple of days.

A lesser-seen corner of Edinburgh - in the gardens round the back of Moray Place and Ainslie Place:

The only online recording I can find is at http://www.malcolmtaylor.com/tunes.htm where it is played (unfortunately not very well) alongside its standard partner The Banks Hornpipe.

Nice one, Onny, cheers for that :D The playing is a wee bit ropey for sure, but nice tune. I wonder: The Banks Hornpipe - the place I took the photos in is called Moray Bank Gardens, or the Banks for short. Surely no coincidence?

Another from the mysterious east :mrgreen: . Not the best spot if you suffer from vertigo, this.

All from the nicest building (the Museum of Scotland) in Chamber Street, soon to be renovated and modernised (Lots of Shiny new plug sockets)

By the way can any of the Edinburgh Fans 'Let Glasgow Flourish' and find coats of Arms of Glasgow (I've got 1 so far)
Hmmm I wonder what happens if i press that lever.... Ahh It operates that shiny new plug socket!
