The Subway

Postby JohnRobertson » Wed Aug 01, 2007 9:22 pm

I found this site by accident,
What memories the pictures of the old subway brought back of my childhood, staying with my Auntie Jennie who lived in a flat in Cleveden Drive near the old Kelvinbridge station. My mother worked as a fashion model for her agent, Mrs Margo Bannister, a formidable lady. Mum worked in the tea rooms at Pettigrews, Trerons and Hendersons, showing off the latest fashions in the late 1950's. It brought back a flood of memories too much to post here!!
So much so I took my nephew and his 6 year old son through to Glasgow for the day today. We used the park and ride at Kelvinbridge, took the train to Kelvinhall, and went to the Transport Museum and the Galleries, where we were treated to an organ recital. An absolutely magic day. Little Dan wants a train set just like the subway!!!!!
As A kid I remember the little "hut" that was West Street Station, and Cowcaddens which was up a close!!!!

Thanks
John.

EVENING TIMES OCTOBER 12 2007

Is this maybe a start of what should have been done years ago?

What does the 'TW' with red cross out line sign mean at the end of the platforms/entrance to the tunnels? It's only up sometimes and I've always wondered what it stood for?
Thanks in advance.

Read this thread and noticed nobody's yet come up with an answer. I noticed these the other day too, only seem to be put up sometimes. I'm curious to know what it means too. Anyone got any ideas?

It's to inform drivers that the emergency telephone line in the tunnel ahead isn't working.
