Inspiral Carpets were from Manchester!!!!! Jings! I've been trying to track down that song by Win for years now, although I didn't know the name of the band. Here's the ad:

I think I vaguely remember the Gyres graffitti.
Gun had 2 'hits', their version of 'Word Up' and their 1st single whose name escapes me now........and one of them is now in El Presidente, and some of the others are recording under a different name.
Hipsway, The Blue Nile and The Silencers all had a few hits each, one of the Silencers (Cha) recently died, they had a benefit concert for him in the ABC.
Remember 'Inside' by Stiltskin? Another advert song, this time for some brand of denims, young lassies eyeing up a scantily clad buff young man swimming in a lake.
The Fire Engines, who became Win, (although I didn't know that) are enjoying a wee revivial of sorts, along with the BMX Bandits, as bands like Franz Ferdinand are naming them as big influences, also (i think) The Vaselines?
Remember The Pastels? Kinda twee, sorta Belle & Sebastian-ish indie stuff, if memory serves me well.
The Big Dish...........rings a bell, wasn't one of them somebody that Patsy Kensit boffed? Or was that Big Country? (who started out as punk band the Skids, remember 'Into The Valley'??)
Hmmm, me brain's fried now!!
*EDIT** They're on mYspazz!!
