Sad :-( why are they doing that then ? Surely they are a "feature", sort of thing the folk in the riverside flats will lap up.

Well its the Broomielaw so there are no flats. They are being dug up as the quay walls along the length of the Clyde are being strengthened and raised slightly (£24-27million) for obvious reasons with work starting on the pedestrian bridge (£3-6million) next month if all goes to plan. The public realm is also being upgraded in anticipation of the Clyde Fastlink service, Phase 1 of which is scheduled to start early next year.

Id imagine they'll be going back like they did at Glasgow Harbour :)
here i go, it's coming for me through the trees

Recently they resurfaced a bit of Aitkenhead Road southbound just up the junction at Calder Street and when they skimmed off the old tarmac, it was cobbled underneath.

Should have got a picture (kick myself) but it's been covered over now.

Agreed Kenny, except for some knob-end digging a service track across it

I think the coblestones were relaid @ Glasgow cathedral when the Public realm around it was renewed in the 80s.

Was it originaly a coblestoned area
