Was the one with the boat not called The Doune or something similar? IIRC it was owned by Jim Diamond or his family.

Was Minstrels not a disco off Sauchiehall Street ?

Maxwell Plums was a pub on the Broomielaw, I think it was quite near Morrisons :?:

The pub with the boat outside was popular for functions and I went to many 21st birthday parties there but cannot remember the name :?

Other popular venues in the late 70s early 80s were The Three Pidgeons, The Virginan, Blazes and Upstairs Downstairs (?) I might have made the name of the last one up, it was just along from where Somerfields in St Enoch Square is now :)
have I missed anything ???

Leon Cattani owned/ran Minstrels which had many other names which I forget and it did have a boat .
Recorded in minstrels
That would be 'SAHB - Live In Glasgow 1993', on Meantime Records JIMBOCD001.
10 songs, Stevie Doherty on vocals.

Re: Pub photos

Where is this one?

[quote="dimairt"]My boss took these photos in the late 70s and early 80s when he came to live in Glasgow. He was fascinated by the sight of these pubs left standing alone after the demolition of the buildings around them.

Vinny,
The Camp Bar, on the corner of Camperdown St. and Garscube Rd. was demolished god knows how many years ago. It next to my old school, Oakbank Primary, and there was a police station at the foot of the street. It was owned by Alan Rough in the 70s and I think there is a photo of the interior in his autobiography.
There's a car showroom on the site now between Barr St. and Hopehill Rd.

Upstairs Downstairs

Postby theplumber » Wed Feb 14, 2007 4:57 pm

Yes there was a pub of that name in Howard St,with a lounge on the first storey. It was above the Richer Sounds shop.I used to play in a group, and we did a Christmas season there in the 80,s......loads of womans nights....slosh anyone?.The kitchen went on fire during the Christmas period,I heard it on the Radio Clyde news, and drove in from Barlanark,to see what the damage was.....and more to the point.....if the groups gear, which was being stored in a cuboard, was burnt to a crisp!.....Sadly(for music fans)it was'nt damaged, only a bit smokey....so we went on and hit the social clubs the next year!

This is the band I played in. That's me on the drums. The photos is taken inside the Waterfront. On the day that Charles married Diana in July 1981.
