Can anyone shed any light on why the time changes on the board when I log in?

Profile -> User Control Panel -> Preferences -> Summer time is in effect

Sets your preferences whilst you are logged on. You get the default when you're not.

And yes, you do get the wrong time when you set it to Summer time.
