I copied and pasted a direct link from photobucket, but on the post you have to click on the link to see the photo, how do you post a photo so you see in the post without having so click on? you'll guess I'm new to this!

Hi, the second post on this very thread tells you how to do this.

Thanks for your help, I'll try it here, and it can be deleted

This is harder than I thought! I suspect something basic any suggestions?

You left a space in the last set of quotes which stopped it being shown:- [/img] not [ /img]

Plus the photo's a wee bit on the big size try bringing it down to 600X800.

Hope this helps, Alex.

Thanks for your help Alex, I thought it would be something simple doh!
I used photobucket because I saw somewhere on here that they automatically resize the pictures to the required 800x600, but I'll have to have a closer look at that.

Feeling deeply inadequate, but please can someone copy the instructions for creating a new-variant Flickr link to this thread?

(Sir, please sir, i have searched, but Flickr as a search term finds every post with a Flickr link...) ('post' and 'photo' don't really help either) (didn't help me anyway) (going back into my hole now)

This may sound daft, but how do i post a you tube video so that it appears on the post rather than the link?

Tobester, in the wee toolbar on your screen above where you type your post, click on the youtube= button. That will paste the relevant code in for you. Copy the URL of the youtube vid you want to use, and paste it after the "=" sign in the code, e.g. for this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NoxEETZ_bJg , you would put:
(but without the space after the equals sign (I put that in so that you'd see the code).

I take it you can't post photos direct from PC/ laptop.

No. You have to upload them to a hosting site such as flickr or photbucket and then link to them from your HG post.

I learn by watching someone do it several times and then repeating their actions. I've tried to set up flickr accounts, photobucket and tried to post/link them to my posts and always without success. I've totally given up now and think perhaps it's something to do with this goddam hammer and chisel that i use and the granite...

I am so envious of those who do it with their eyes closed look at Sharon's post for example. God, why can't we all have a Sharon in our homes......
