HG has just went through a wee upgrade to most recent version of phpbb, please let me know if anything isn't working as it should be.

Thanks

We Are Moving // Forum Upgrades

Postby Jazza » Tue Feb 22, 2011 5:02 pm

We have upgraded (today) to the latest stable version of PHPBB, in anticipation of a server move.

HG has been eating quite a bit of our server resources lately and we don't want to upset our commercial customers, so The Board™ have decided that HG will be moved, upgraded no less, to its own little server.

This will be happening in the near future, and we will try and let people know when by posting here and updating Twitter (here) and Facebook (here)

Thanks for your patience and participation.

Jazza

I use the "view active topics" link at the top of the home page quite a lot. There's only two threads showing at the moment. Had this problem with one of my fora a while back but can't remember what I had to do to fix it.

Forums > Advanced Admin Panel > General forum settings > Display active topics:
If set to yes topics made to this forum will be shown in the active topics list.

I think it was this option.

And very tedious it is too, going through each one.

Thanks Brigit, it was indeed very tedious going though each one, but that should be active topics working properly now. Thanks for pointing this out and providing the solution!!!

I don't think this is something that can be done from ACP.

Perhaps if the admin team can look in the css files for things like .postbody or .postprofile they will be float: right;, I think (and it is a big think) then can simply be changed to float: left; to switch the profile to the other side.

And yes, everything looking good so far :D

We have a few issues to be ironed out over the weekend, once the dns routes properly. Cookies, session ID in URL being 2 important ones.

Hopefully it will be faster and more stable than before.

For the tech heads we are now hosted in 'the cloud' on a Linode xen setup.

Writing this on my mates iPad an it looks awesome.

Oh, I see; we're driving on the right. I'll need to concentrate and hope I don't meet myself coming the other way with detonators on board 8O

Ach, it's not that bad actually .. different, but different's good. There is one change I'd like to request and it's been something that's always bugged me about HG -- when a clickable link is used here it open the destination web site in the same tab. I was wondering how difficult it would be to get the link to open inside a new tab .. it just means you can flick back and forth between HG and the link's page without having to reload the page continually.

I wonder if anyone else has had this thought, or if there's a reason why HG has always chosen to use the 'same tab' link format?

Bugs me too. It's just how PhpBB does it. However, given there's a bit of housekeeping going on, I'll add that to my wee "todo" list.

The avatars will be shifting back to the left, I just ran out of steam yesterday!!
