Garden wildlife

Bought a new bird feeder yesterday as I thought our feathered friends could do with a decent meal in this weather.

Some of our first visitors...

First of all, apologies for the extremely poor quality of this photo.

Caught sight of this about an hour ago when I glanced out of the window into the back garden - I'm pretty sure it is a stoat. I'm not sure if it was eating the bird seed or was trying to catch a bird (I couldn't see any about but it may have scared them off I suppose). It's only about the third time in my life I've seen one so I thought it was worth posting up despite the poor photo quality.

I tried to grab some more photos but the bloody thing was so quick (especially when it was back on the ground) I wasn't able to :(

The poor photo quality was down to it being a very rushed grab-the-camera-and-click sort of thing. Also, I took it looking through my window (didn't want to risk making a noise by opening it and thereby scaring it off) and forgot to turn the flash off first so there was a fair bit of glare

I tried to improve the photo quality using Roxio but it didn't make much difference (though I'm far from an expert when it comes to using editing software so I was just trying random things really).

Can't tell from that if it has a black tip to it's tail or not. If so, it's definitely a stoat, if not probably a weasel, although I don't think they're all that common up here by comparison to stoats.
Some people hear voices.. Some see invisible people.. Others have no imagination whatsoever.

I didn't know that stoats have a black tip to their tail until I read the Wikipedia page so it wasn't something I looked for.

It's appearance was as per the description in every other way though.

We've got an unusual regular visitor - a parrot:

Well, actually a ring-necked parakeet :) This picture is from two years ago, but he's still about...
