The Spartan. Clyde puffer used to launch the original 1959 Para Handy programme.

Currently undergoing an overhaul. First time since 1942 she's been washed and repainted!

Here are some boats at Bowling. I think they look like whale bones.

Another "find" from my stock of old Photographs. All I knew is that it was taken from the Waverley in the late 1980s.

Image

A close scan of the stern of the ship suggested that the name of the nearer ship was "Tame" or something like that. A quick Google brought up the excellent http://www.clydesite.co.uk/clydebuilt/ site and a search of active vessels showed the "Taihe" as a Container Vessel built in 1989 at Govan.
Photographic proof was also there to confiirm the vessels identity.

The other vessel is the sister ship "Puhe" launched in 1990.

A slightly different view for a change, the Maid of the Loch on Google's hi-res satellite imagery.

Go to maps.google.co.uk and punch 'Balloch Castle, Argyll and Bute, G83' into the search using satellite view. You'll see the pier and vessel to the lower left of the found image. Pan and zoom to see the 'detail'.

A very well maintained Austrian paddle steamer on Lake Constance. Even the crew looked well restored!
