That's the (lunatic) suggestion at the moment but the way international conflicts and the Tories rapidly diminishing electoral prospects are going it may not be the case for long.

Apparently it wont be starting without Aircraft, we will man/staff the aircraft carrier but French Aircraft will fly from it for the first 10 years or so.

Will the French planes be able to fly backwards, in line with their policy of retreating at the first sign of any danger?

1 forward gear and 8 reverse :), If they get the new VSTOL F35 or buy old Harriers they may well be able to fly backwards :)
