my leica compact, which is essentaily teh same as a panasonic model, can do that. but i think its actually just shutter speed you should alter and keep the aperture fixed, auto bracket can change both

Doing the shutter speed manually is a bit advanced for me (I don't know if compact digital cameras can even do that...), I wouldn't know which shutter speeds I should be using: Like "instant", "two seconds" and "one minute"? I simply don't know.

According to the HDR tutorial page that I found, brackets was the way to do it.

But I digress: What Leica model do you have? There are several...

Thanks =)

digilux2
the way i do it is to see what the camera would use on auto mode, fix the aperture at that and then a shutter speed 2 stops below and above that, giving you 5 pics. 1 normally exposed, 2 under and 2 over.
im happy to point out ive never done a successful HDR, but i imagine this is the best way :)
of course, the camera needs to show you the settings it uses for nrmal exposure. but if your looking for a camera keep an eye out for one with aperture and shutter priority modes for this kind of thing

On the ones I did I changed the exposure and I was using a simple compact camera.
Seemed to work ok for me.

its exposure you change, all you need is tripod under expose by 2 & over expose by 2 works well you can also add any amount inbetween. If like me your tooo lazy to carry tripod you can use lightroom and under & over expose 2 extra shots. even lazier just tonemap one raw. :mrgreen:
