Indeed. The taxis in Madeira (mostly Mercs) are a very similar shade of yellow.

'Tis.

Thing is, Orion or Escort flavour, that model was utter shite, even for the time! Gutless, piss-poor brakes, zero handling and build-quality to rival Stalinist-era concrete housing. Other than that, they were fine. ::):

Possibly in comparison to a contemporary rice pudding skin-puller. Otherwise, no!

Had the base 1.3l Mk 3 Escort. Did not have a radio. The rubber mats were extra. Bought a passenger side mirror. It was an extra. It had stupid wheel trims which I think must have cost Ford about two pence. They seemed to fall off at the slightest bump in the road. Had to get new front wheel bearings under warranty. The bearings were "free" but had to pay for fitting under Fords warranty scheme. The windscreen leaked but fixed it with silicon bathroom sealer. The Orion was really a Mark3 Escort with a boot. I seem to recall a TV interview with a worker outside Fords Liverpool plant who said "They are just churning them out with not a lot of quality control." I seem to recall it as rather noisy and boxy with bumpy handling. It got traded in for a Rover. Which in turn was traded in for a Rover 414 in 1991 which was a really nice car.

Nah, pretty though that is, the true Daddy of the Spitfire is the TR6 (or maybe the Stag).
