Hoodster,
This is a terrific collection of photos, thank you. The Wines and Spirits pub is on the Garscube Rd.
Behind it is the old Phoenix Cinema and behind that is the (electricity ?) tower at Spiers Wharf featured in Carol Foreman's recent book, "Glasgow From the Air." The Phoenix is featured on another thread but I've got a copy if there are doubters.
I'm doing a talk tomorrow at Dundas Vale Hall and will ask about the pub, failing that I can ask Dad, 80 just the other day, and a leading expert on Glasgow's pubs in the 50s and 60s.

Dimairt - would love to see the photos of the Phoenix Park area, my old man lived in Phoenix Park Terrace before being decanted to Easterhouse in his teens.

Vinny,
I was given a set of 12 photos just last week by Netta Wylie. She and her husband lived near the park and took lots of photos there.
I'll have a selection on site next week. In the meantime....

Hi Dimairt, The phots of Phoenix Park are very interesting. I lived in Port Dundas, which was just up the hill from Phoenix Park and can remember the playground and the few streets with tenements in that area. These are the first photos I've seen of that area without the motorway and flyover which cut straight over the playground and completely changed eveyrthing.
When I was still at school i worked as a milk boy for Scottish Farmers delivering milk to tenements in Phoenix Park.
Look forward to more images from Phoenix Park

A few more snaps of the Phoenix Park area for Vinny, Hoodster and Hollowhorn.
Some of them were given to me by Netta Wylie and feature her family and friends in the park.

Dimairt
