Yes I agree with Sharon. The aerial is what brings the photograph together.

Hmmm, I suppose it does lend some much needed visual tension.

I'd say the aerial breaks the rigid symetery of the building annd provides another entry point to the pic...or indeed an exist ponit as the eye kind of enters at the lamp and gets drawn through, accross, up and out by the aeriel, and at the same time the light splashes on the building give it a bit of depth and pattern. Just some thoughts

That. And the fact that at least three of the patches look like happy wee ghosts helps too :) .

I guess, but sometimes it's hard to see in a photograph a quality that's worth keeping.

Perhaps that's skill #2.
