Thanks Chris,

I love these photos. Do you know anything about the Canal Customs House? Are you able to go inside or is it privately owned now or still used by the Forth and Clyde Canal somehow? And any idea of how old that building is?

My gg grandfather died in 1874 and the address given is "Canal Property" Bowling, and had lived in canal properties during his lifetime. I have always wondered if he actually had lived in the Customs house, or in some other accomodation for canal lock keepers.

Hi Nina

the building is used as an office by British Waterways and has a small reception area open to the public.

Hi everyone, I'm a long time lurker and first time poster here. I've visited Bowling a couple of times in the last few weeks to explore and take pictures so I thought I'd share some. I'll hopefully be be back up there sometime in the next couple of weeks to explore the woods and canal, rom what I've seen there's loads of great stuff hidden away in there.

Helpful hint : Please check the train you are on does stop at Bowling ! Do not take it for granted, not all trains going that direction actually stop. Especially at weekends.
