it's the colours that get me.

one the one hand you have: red, blue, white, grey, orange etc.

and yet you also get: damask red, spphire blue, bronze yellow, wild moss

my faves, given the ordinariness of the cars combined with the 'exotic'-sounding finish:
vivas in 'starmist'
austin maxi in 'blaze'

and who could resist the rover 2000 combination of zircon blue and nylon upholstery

The owner was sat in it when I showed up with the camera. A conversation ensued in which he told me that these cars (and the badge-engineered variants) are still in demand for banger racing. There have been numerous incidents where these cars have been stolen from collectors for that purpose. The owner of this example had a chain in the passenger footwell for securing the steering. It could have held the anchor on HMS King George V.

They are sometimes referred to as "Farina" cars on account of styling house Pininfarina's involvement in its design (see contemporary Peugeot 404 and Ferrari 250 GTE for comparison). The Morris Oxford was the other main seller and there were also Wolseley, RIley and MG versions. There was a larger model sold in Vanden Plas and Wolseley variants. A brief bit of googling has turned up the Argentine Siam di Tella 1500 which was based on the Riley 4/68 and popular with the taxi drivers of Buenos Aires.

Spotted this on Byres Rd yesterday. Don't drive and don't know anything about cars.

Cadillac, hard to tell from the back but looks like a '52-'55 model.

I spotted a classic car on line on Saturday and liked it so much I bought it as my daily driver I'm driving to Newcastle to collect it on Wednesday and I will let you all know what it is once home.

Thats all I need, another car but I couldnt resist

There was a black Gran Torino in the platform car park of Central Station on Friday night, didn't have my camera with me though - maybe a publicity thing for the film of the same name, I wonder?

I saw a concourse Morris 1000 on the Kingston Bridge yesterday but missed getting a photo.It's the only classic I've seen for a while.Lets hope the Governments £2000 to scrap a car over 10 years old doesn't affect seeing some gems!
