One of those select few abbreviations where the last initial is repeated. A Monster bar bar.

I'm sure I know quite a few others, but none of them come to mind right now.

these last two sweet boxes were given to me by the shop owner who was laughing at the fact the printers had spelled 'Glasgow' as 'Glassgow and Takeway' and he had to have the boxes reprinted. Both boxes have embossed lettering. The sweets are as described on the box 'Irrisitable temptations' and the take aways are equally as good.

On the subject of Buchanan's, an interesting article on the Scottish sweetie trade (with the promise of a radio doc to follow):

Not exactly Swedgers but a tasty snack of days gone by none the less. I have been trying to find Brannigan's Beer Nuts without success.
They were peanuts roasted in their skins coated with a glaze of crystallised sea salt flakes.
Any one know if they are still available?

"I before E, except after C" works in most cases but there are exceptions.

My neighbour is involved in the production of Jelly Babies. When the wind blows from the South East you can smell the ingredients wafting from the factory.

Werther's pop up shop.

Werther's Original is set to sweeten Glasgow's Buchanan Galleries Shopping Centre with their very first caramel shop, opening exclusively on Wednesday 12th September for five days only. An experience not to be missed!

The traditional style sweet shop is expected to revive a nostalgic experience with distinctive sounds, sights and tastes to evoke the happiest childhood memories. Twinkling glass jars full of candies, the clatter of old weighing scales, rustling of paper bags and the ultimate melt-in-the-mouth taste of comforting caramels will guarantee an authentic trip down memory lane.

Visitors will be able to taste the famous Werther's Original Butter candy, still made using the original family recipe from 1909 of real butter and fresh cream. This will be displayed within a completely unique pick 'n' mix installation - a copper helter skelter mechanic set to dazzle customers upon entry to the shop, as it releases a wide range of Werther's confectionery.

Devoted to showcasing the delicious range of Werther's Original confectionery with something to satisfy every taste bud, as well as the traditional Butter Candies shoppers will also be able to buy the soft-centered Creamy Filling, the long lasting Chewy Toffee, the new indulgent chocolate covered Caramel Fudge and a sugar free variant of the classic Werther's Original Butter candy
.
