What is/are WOSIC's- apologies in advance if I have missed something obvious.

By the way did anyone clock the recent Evening Times article concerning the release of one of Damilola Taylor's killers? They referred to the crime as the poor bastard having been "jabbed" with a broken bottle!

Over the years I have read some shit concerning this crime but that takes the fucking piss.

Prior to this the worst I read was the reason I stopped buying the New Statesman. Just prior to the FIFA World Cup in 2002 their columnist (who I usually respect) Darcus Howe published an article spreading the myth about how it wasn't even an attack - Google "Darcus Howe on the truth about Damilola's death" to find it online.

Then in the very next fucking issue Howe stated that he didn't really care who won the World Cup but it would be nice for Peckham if England won as Rio Ferdinand came from that area and it was where Damilola Taylor was ..................................................................... can you guess what's coming ................ murdered!

Anyhooz rant over.

It had me stumped for a while too, but I'll have a guess at West Of Scotland Irish Catholics.

Newspaper staff set to strike

Union members at The Herald and Evening Times newspapers have voted to take industrial action over job losses.
It comes after about a dozen staff at the Glasgow-based titles were told their jobs are to be made redundant.
The NUJ union said more than 150 of its members were balloted, with 78% voting in favour of strike action at the start of the New Year.
The Herald and Times Group has said "a small number" of newspaper staff would lose jobs to cut costs.
The NUJ said a work to rule would begin on 3 January, with a 48-hour strike to follow on 6 and 7 January.

Thanks so much for signing the petition demanding a Competition Commission investigation into Murdoch's BSkyB power grab.

We need to hand the petition in on December 31. Can you help spread the word? Please forward this e-mail and ask your friends to sign the petition too by clicking here:
http://www.38degrees.org.uk/Jeremy-hunt-not-impartial

thanks, the 38 Degrees team

The petition text

David Cameron, Nick Clegg, and Jeremy Hunt

If Vince Cable isn't impartial to make decisions about the BSkyB takeover, neither is Jeremy Hunt. Jeremy Hunt is an outspoken supporter of Rupert Murdoch.

We demand that Jeremy Hunt passes Ofcom's report straight to the competition commission for a full-scale investigation, without political interference.

Have a look at this:

http://www.38degrees.org.uk/stop-murdoch

I've just signed a petition to call on the government to investigate the phone hacking scandal and not make a decision on Murdoch's plans to take total control of BSkyB until we know the truth about NewsCorp's illegal activity.

You can sign the petition too by clicking here: http://www.38degrees.org.uk/stop-murdoch

Thanks,

Spread it like a pox, people... :D

So why, when it comes to phone-hacking at Murdoch's News of the World, is everyone so quiet? Why has it been left almost entirely to this paper, with help from a few other media organisations such as the New York Times, to reveal the extent of the criminality? Why has the -gate suffix been given a rare holiday? This is not a grey area. Phone-hacking is always illegal except, in certain instances, for the security services. There is no public interest defence. That was why Clive Goodman, the News of the World royal reporter, and Glenn Mulcaire, a private investigator, went to jail more than four years ago for intercepting the communications of aides to Princes William and Harry.

I knew these photos existed some while ago but I didn't expect them to see the light of day.

Neville Thurlbeck, News of the World reporter recently arrested for phone hackery, went on a mission one day to set up a couple for one of their dubious stories. The couple were suspicious from the start so they made sure they recorded proceedings...
