Wheer can I buy a bale of hay?

Postby John_D » Sat Jun 20, 2009 1:21 pm

This will seem like quite a random enquiry but I' wondering where in Glasgow I could go to purchase a bale of hay?

I'd be grateful for any clues!

Thank you

In Glasgow? No danger.

Try Ayrshire. Look for animal feed companies. If you're still struggling drop me a PM and I'll get a bail for you.

Blackfaulds farm near the Fort Shopping Centre - which is sort of near Garthamlock used to supply bales of straw [which is dead hay] for cash, don't know whether they still do.

I've never understood the difference between hay and straw although I'm sure one being dead and the other not is not it!

hay is made from dried grass, used as animal feed.
straw from cut cereal crops like barley or wheat, used as animal bedding.

Thanks Dave. The reasons I asked were firstly, I understood that the law applied to London Hackneys only and secondly, it had been repealed. Both appear borne out by your link (at least, it has been repealed in the UK) but I couldn't find anything during my search which suggested that the law had applied (or still applies) to Glasgow Hackneys.
