Buying a hoose in Ibrox! Fear or fantastic?

Postby ukaser » Sun Jun 07, 2009 9:53 pm

Hi all...
I've been a follower for a while, but now I'm turning for some advice!

Just about to make an offer on a flat in Ibrox/Cessnock - pretty close to the Subway sandwich joint on Paisley Road West. We were looking in Dennistoun for a while, but this flat cropped up and it's fab.

We're coming from the city centre, just next to the GFT and I'd like some reassurance that Ibrox is a worthwhile area to live and invest.

Having read the stats and prowled the streets over the weekend it doesn't seem too bad. Though I'm concerned about possible drug hostel and any roaming gangs I may have missed. I like it's proximity to the city, but I'm not sure about whether it's going to be an up and coming area, though rising car crime stats and the £350m rangers redevelopment might say otherwise!!

Any thoughts? Many thanks!

Bide your time. I've got my eye on the place. I have neds on toast for breakfast, but until I've used up the supply in EK, the Ibrox flavoured ones are free to make mischief.

Hello ukaser, and welcome -

Try here -

Not much has changed except the extra bridge availability is great, Bellahouston Park (not mentioned originally) has got more interesting, and all the muck in the street is giving me the screaming wotsits. But maybe that's just me. (Hurry up with that EK ned diet Brigit - do you chomp on the trainee ones in school uniforms as well?)

hi guys,
thanks for the response!

I'm originally from EK, so I know the score there, if it takes priority on the headbanging list then I'm laughing!
And Sunflower, followed that post with glee, many thanks...it all confirms my suspicion. It's a residential place, not much this, not much that, but quieter than the city...does that seem like a fair assement?
What about the drug hostel, any more for any more on that?

Again, cheers guys!

You could pick worse places than Ibrox. I actually quite like PRW round about that area and I know a few folk who live(d) in Copland Road. The bit in between PRW and the M8 is very tranquil.
