Howdy,

First - The Jam, Apollo 1982. Their last tour I think.

Last - Simple Minds, SECC. First time I've seen them and rather good they were too.

LG, The Fusion Orchestra! Great stuff. Galumphing rhythms, flute solos, and jazz basslines. Almost Jethro Tull with a girl singer. Which begs the question, didn't they become Shakatak?

Regards

Spotted!Jill Sayward- was the very lady in the Fusion Orchestra, and she was one of the Shakatak singists. I had the album (Skeletons In Armour) it was not a great thing ! But ti was a great gig - very loud and a really cool drum solo ! (I'll get my coat now I've said that !)

Are you sure it wasn't a guitar solo given your propensity to mix up guitarists and drummers (according to Felonious). I can understand you getting a guitarist mixed up with other musicians. But a drummer?

1st: Either Howard Jones at the Apollo or Bronski Beat at NightMoves in Sauchiehall St. Both 1984, I just can't remember which was first.

Last: Fall Out Boy, SECC, October 2008.

Well apologies to George Terry all around.... !
But this one definately jumped of the stage, ran all around the hall hitting things with his sticks....... so I am moderately sure he was a drummer.

He'd probably get done for that nowadays.

I heard The Fusion Orchestra on a Dutch compilation album that cost 49p. Which should help shum up the shound of The Fushion Orkeshtra. :)

Jill Sayward was in the news recently. She was appearing in a programme called Making of the Band, which is where has-beens get tortured for entertainment. Actually that makes it sound better than it is. But Jill had a facelift and, unfortunately, it went wrong.

Anybody remember John Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora turning up at the Kelvingrove Rock and Pop Festival?
