When i was a small lad i used to play "doakies" along the bank of the burn that runs past whitlawburn in cambuslang. One fateful day i jumped on what looked like a solid surface and it turned out to be a thin layer of soil covering a thick band of slate or something like that. All i remember is that it collapsed and i fell arse first into the burn. However we started to play with this stuff breaking it apart ect.. inside one of the peices i had split in two was the shape of quite a large fish. I can remember that you could just about see the scales on it. My parents took it along to glasgow museum and they told us that it was one of the best specimens that has been found of the type in this area.
As far as i know it's still there but i've never seen it on display, i might pop along some time and ask if they still have it or not.
