Glasgow's Last Days of Steam

Can't find a copy of this in Waterstones or Borders of late - was wondering if it's worth purchasing.

If you've got a copy, can you PM me?

Cheers

There are a few copies in the Glasgow Libraries stock if you want to look before you buy.

I can't help you with the book, but I have a photo you have probably seen before (It's on Virtual Mitchell I think)

Image

This was taken in 1965, for the last steam repair. I bet you lot can tell me all about the engine.

That's my Granda right in the middle. He worked at St Rollox all his life until retirement.

Stanier "Black Five" 4-6-0 number 45213. Built by Armstrong Whitworth and place into traffic in November 1935.
Seems to have been a Scottish Engine for most of it's life, being based at Perth and Stirling. It was Scrapped in April 1967 at McWilliams in Shettleston.

I just got a video from the library called "Diamonds Were Forever - A Celebration of Glasgow Steam".

Nice video about an hour long. On the front is says "As seen on TV". Would recommend it to anyone with an interest in Glasgow's Steam Engines.
