Can anyone provide a web link to Betty Hutton? The only one I know of is the 'Woolworth' one.

on a side note the woollies Bety Huton wrote a book that was published in Glasgow way back. I've never seen a copy. Been hunting for it for years

My cousin, who is also gay, assures me that there is a pub on the Gallowgate called The Heilan Jessie. Sadly it's not a bar just for gay Highlanders.

When Heilan' Jessie's opened (in the mid 80's?) it was a hotbed of traditional music (sadly, much of it Irish) and something of a home from home for the SLA.

Betty Hutton, no heard that name in years! ::): I never knew her (or even met her) but heard many, maaaaaaaany a story! She used to carry a tin of beans in her handbag and if she ever got any abuse (which I'd imagine was an occurrence not too infrequent in this city!) she'd just wallop the fucker in the face with it ::):
