Thank god somebody else remembers Pussycats. None of my pals were ever in there, I probably shouldn't have been either. I was in there when I was about fifteen and recall being a bit perplexed by the chips being offered round. That explains it!

Always glad to be of service!

This is not true. Though the judges does have quite a few regular gay customers and is fairly gay friendly but not a bar to go on the pull in.

(edit) I cannot beleive that was my first post after being in here all these years. 8O

Moving swiftly on....

I'd really like to hear from older lesbian and gay HG members or their friends. Where did gay people meet in the 50's and 60's, or even earlier?

Apparently the Polo Lounge is one of the Top 60 gay bars in the whole world: http://www.out.com/exclusives.asp?id=25682

Something not right there if you ask me.

People seldom look at the fireplace when they're poking the fire.

Apparently.

Thanks to all for the memories on this thread - have had fun reading it all.

Was a young thing when I first entered Vintners (christ those stairs were hellish when two sheets too the wind) & then I had the joy of Panama Jax on a gay Wednesday night or the old fave Bennets. Wish I had kept in touch with some of the people I met in the early 1980's and more so wish I had taken up some of the opportunities back then.

Vintners - Austins - Panama Jax - Bennets - much loved and remembered - probably never equaled due to the period they truly existed in. David Knight -my first engagement ring bought - Jackie the hairdresser from Paisley (your wife hated me!!) - et al - ta for the memories!!

*Don't stop doing what you're doing, don't stop - shoot your shot!*
