That's lovely, Mark. Although you should perhaps have cropped out the distracting red bit at the bottom.

Has there been a single Glasgow public event in the last decade that hasn't featured Sheboom, btw?

Thanks Josef - didn't notice the red bit!

And I don't think Sheboom are even confined to Glasgow, they probably have groups all over the UK!

That's one band I wouldn't walk in front of during a walk.

I happened to be in the city centre when Pride was on. I usually avoid it, but went for a look. I realised again why I avoid it! It was utterly naff, chaotic, and the entertainment was very poor. Why don't the organisers take a look at how other Pride celebrations are staged and organised? For a big city with a substantial gay population, we are pretty badly catered for.

Have you been to the Edinburgh one? I was at it last year and it was just horrible - the community stalls etc were all in a cramped, dark nightclub. We spent about half an hour getting pushed around and being unable to see what any of the stalls had, and the only alternative seemed to be to head for the bars and stand around outside getting pissed, so we spent the day at the shops instead....... It made Glasgow look diverse and civilised 8O

An American tourist said to a mate of mine on being unfortunate enough to encounter the Edinburgh version, "These people have pride??" ::):

I do believe that Edinbugh Pride is now for the people that just want to show off. It has lost the party vibe to it and the whole sentiment of it all. Us who don't feel comfortable with that have moved away from marching down the street with banners.....Saying that I don't feel I need to parade myself down any high street just because of my sexuality.

They're serialising a biography of Edwin Morgan in The Herald this week and I spotted this.

Venues for such illicit activity included the Oak Cafe, in St Vincent Street, the Good Companions near Blythswood Square, and the Royal Bar on West Nile Street.

I think that might be The Royalty Bar

Lip Service writer wanted 'authentic' lesbian drama

Glasgow was chosen as the setting for the drama for its 'thriving gay scene'

The authentic looking Glasgow lesbians.

The bad news

Harriet Braun, who's written episodes of programmes like Mistresses, says she didn't set out to shock audiences with the six-part series.

She told Newsbeat: "It was important to me that the lesbian characters came across as authentic to a lesbian audience.
