Avril Paton's Windows in the West

Can anyone tell me the exact location of the building in this painting?

Image

I am hoping that whenever I next get back up to Glasgow I can visit just to see what the building is like IRL.

The building sits on the east side of Saltoun Street, and the street to the right is Roxburgh Street, which runs to Byres Road opposite Hillhead Subway. It was painted from Avril Paton's window. I've been in the room on the bottom right.

Thanks all for the info.

I haven't got a copy yet, unless the one printed off the internet counts (tut tut).

Just another quickie question. Does anyone know what the building on the horizon, top right is. :?:

I read somewhere that the guy at the desk in the window top centre is the BBC football commentator Roddy Forsyth.

Difficult to see from the posted pic, but I think it's Glasgow University Library, rather than the Boy George Building.

I would also tend to think it is Glasgow University Library. Need to take a closer look at the pic to be sure though.

I've always liked her paintings too and was also wondering as to the locations as well. Would love to try and re-create the paintings in a photo but doubt i'd ever get the chance to take some photos from the painters perspective. :(

A couple more:

Image
'Windows in the West' - The print depicts the building and inhabitants of Saltoun St in Hillhead.

Image
'Bedsits'

Image
'The Blue Room' - The view of the back of Huntley Gardens in the West End.

Image
'Topping Out Day'

Image
'Dusk' - A detailed depiction of Athol Gardens in Hillhead.

Image
'Yellow Blinds'

Image
'The Gathering'

Image
'Rita's Find (Paddy's Market)'

Image
'Kissing'

Image
'Adam's House'

Anymore idents on the locations?

I had a look through the house on the left at the corner of athole gardens when a friend was flathunting. It's owned by a wee italian woman who lives round the corner and divided up into minging bedsits with questionable wiring. Inside it looks like it hasn't been decorated since it was built and although peeling and faded it still looks amazing.

The "Adam's House" picture looks like that building that lies just to the south of London Road on Charlotte Street. Don't know if she just sticks to the West End as if she does, I'm wrong!

But I seem to recall railings to the right side of that house, as in the painting.

Is it just me or are that pair helluva small? The kissing couple that is.

They're like a couple of dolls on the window ledge!! If they're supposed to be in that living room then they are about 30 yards from the window!!
