Used to work in the wee industrial estate in Cambuslang, the one down behind Safeway.

On more than one occasion there were groups of neds on top of the bridge there, hanging about with their bottles of buckie, setting in about a tree with machetes.

Near shat my pants walking past those buggers.

Not sure that stands true in real life, but I'll observe from a distance while you prove your point. :)

Bloody hell what an array of death they have. There is no way yuou can describe these things as anything like sporting or fishing. They are designed to kill.

But I have to note that when I was 13 or so I carried a Bowie knife - different part of the world (Devon) and we lived in the country - but even then we knew it was dodgy. (Mostly used for opening shellfish ! )

Even the Tartan Tories plan to ban the display of such items is now in tatters.

"A PROPOSED ban on the public display of knives and swords to help cut crime has been quietly dropped by the Scottish government.

The ban would have stopped shops such as Glasgow's famous Victor Morris store from filling their windows with potentially lethal hunting, military and "fantasy" knives.

The start of a new licensing scheme for knife dealers has also been pushed back by almost a year, the Sunday Herald can reveal. The moves have been condemned by opposition MSPs."

Evening Times

Women more likely to beat up men

MEN are more likely to be on the receiving end of domestic abuse by a female partner on Old Firm match weekends than during other weekends of the year, according to new figures.
The total number of reported incidents of domestic abuse increases by 41% when Rangers and Celtic play each other. It has previously been thought that alcohol-fuelled aggression may be leading men to take their anger out on their partners, but new statistics from Strathclyde Police show that men are also increasingly the victims.

Wasn't sure where to put this but Crimewatch on the Streets is on BBC1 tonight at 9.00pm.

Part of the programme is about domestic abuse in Scotland and think there is also something about fraud in London.
Humberside gets a mention too.

London, Humberside, Scotland? I knew that reminded me of something..... :)

Panic on the streets of London
Panic on the streets of Birmingham
I wonder to myself
Could life ever be sane again ?
The Leeds side-streets that you slip down
I wonder to myself
Hopes may rise on the Grasmere
But Honey Pie, you're not safe here
So you run down
To the safety of the town
But there's Panic on the streets of Carlisle
Dublin, Dundee, Humberside
I wonder to myself

Chib Shops raided

Police have recovered a "significant" number of banned weapons after raiding two retailers in Glasgow city centre.

Store raids find illegal weapons

Don't they run this story on a five-year cycle? I'm sure I've read it at least twice before.
