Harro! Been lurking here a while and thought its time to get involved!

My names Steven, I'm a Student and I've lived in Glasgow all my days, currently in Scotstoun.

Got quite a range of interests ranging from Tarantulas to plain old walking and have recently started to get into photography.

So, aye - hi! :)

Hi Buttons my old son, welcome to the grotto of information and satire. It's great here really - I hope you get as much enjoyment from being a member as I've had over the past couple of years. There are some really really nice, funny and knowledgeable folks here and it's always a mine of readily imparted information, all given with a light heart.

Except LP! ...

Hello.

Love this site, been diving into it most days since I found it a couple of months ago. The depth of information and the skill and humour with which it is conveyed is humbling. Which is why it has taken me till today to post.

I left Glasgow in 1978 when I was 18 so have few pictures but boatloads of recollections.

Blairdardie, Drumchapel, Garnethill, Clydebank, Byres Road area before it was the Weeeeest Eeeeand, Langside, Rutherglen and other bits of the soo'side were my bits.

Oh, and I was all excited about doing a book on George Bennie's Railplane at Milngavie because it was a fascinating piece of history that nobody else knew about ... oh.

Now there's no need to flatter

Welcome in to this den of iniquity, hope you stick around. No need to be put off doing that book by the way - let's face it, most people know nothing about Mr Bennie's ill-fated contraption.

Thank you, Lucky Poet.

There is a book in Bennie. He also invented the gyroscopic ashtray, for use at sea.

Both that and the Railplane made sense.... kind of. He was a fascinating man - for every Logie Baird there was a Bennie.

I haven't checked this out with the Patents Office but see no reason for doubt.

Really interesting site, that; here's the homepage:

Hi everyone

My name is Charlie, male and getting on a bit in years

Love this great City and enjoy reading up on all aspects of it. Forums like this pass on so much information that nothing surprises me now.

With that many changes going on it is very hard to keep up with them all and it's good to drop into the conversation snippets gleaned from here, makes people think that you are smarter than you really are ::):

Keep up the good work
