Hello everyone.

I just saw this topic, and sorry for posting elsewhere first =(

I'm a Norwegian currently living in Glasgow (in the Strathclyde Uni Campus Village to be exact), and I must say this city really grows on you. When I first came here I was amazed by Merchant City with all its Victorian elegance and of course the famous Necropolis. But otherwise I wasn't really all that jazzed up about Glasgow. But then I started walking about and finding all these amazing little gems; small cobblestone alleys, hidden frescoes, backyards filled with rusty bikes and of course the Barras Market.

I've been looking for a forum where I can chat with other Glaswegians about hidden gems in this 'second city of the Empire', but until I found this place, I have been unsuccessful. All the sites I found about Glasgow cityscapes where either shamefully outdated (five-six years ago) or out of service. I was therefore very happy when a fellow member from the iCreate forum said I should check out this forum and it turned out to be so massively populated by like-minded people and great photographic art from the more connoisseur view of Glasgow.

Hi Sharon, and all users,

Thanks for prompting me to introduce myself. Im loving this site, brings back lots of memories. Im originally from Clydebank but now in south side of Glasgow which took me while to settle into. Live not far from Cathcart and Muirend area, Im a scared freak about saying my exact whereabouts :). Anyway hope to meet all sorts of people from everywhere for a good old chin wag.

Hopefully talk to you all soon, Ive got good knowledge of Glasgow, especially pubs :).

take care,

Angee.

Hello, I know it's almost late allegedly but anyway my name is Michael Caine...sorry old joke could'nt resist. I am Joe from Pollok in the south side of the empire born and bred. I have been around (54 next birthday) so to speak for a wee while e.g. Life on Mars is scarily funny.
I am proud most of the time, some of the time, occasionaly, noo and again about our wee city and hope to enjoy some banter or moan with you all and for what it's worth I don't take the huff too easy. I am sure I will live to regret that last statement (cut & paste) and no doubt I will eat my words. Lastly I enjoy photography so guess I might learn a tip or three from some .....Cheers Joe

Hello

My name is Frank, but most folk call me whisperer because of my website and because, on other forums, there are usually other folks called Frank. :D

I was born in Govan, was brought up in the Calton, moved to London when I was a teenager, came back to Glasgow in 1979 and lived in Tollcross (where Jack House was born). Now residing in Port Glasgow.

I enjoy promoting Glasgow whenever I can, and I think we're in for some exciting times, especially with the Commonwealth Games 2014 coming up.

So I hope to be a regular poster here, but first I'll have to spend a lot of time looking through some of these great posts - some very good photographs and articles on here.

I can confirm that any photographs or articles I display on here are my own work, and that also applies to avatars, and graphics.

Now, where's me readiing glasses? ::):

Regards

Hi There !

It's a bit late since I've been making contributions for nearly a month now, especially about 'the Drum' where I lived from 1955-1960 before Dad and Mum (Joe and Peggy Brown) decided that Australia might be a better place to bring up me (Tom) and my older brother (Joe).

We lived at 17 Airgold Drive in Drumchapel and went to St Sixtus School, and I am looking forward to hearing from anyone else who lived in the area around that time !

Hello all, and look forward to receiving many replies !

Regards

Tombro
