I'll be happy when that opens again, I've missed the oasis in the city. For a city of so many pubs there are actually few in town that you can sit and chat and get to know people in.

I would love to get back to having monthly meetings of the Sons of the Desert in Sloans, with screenings of Laurel and Hardy movies, just as we did decades ago.

Yes, that is a good idea. Drink was always a vital part of our meetings at Sloans!

The Sons of the Desert are bringing Laurel and Hardy back to the newly refurbished Sloans in the centre of Glasgow. A twelve-hour Marathon will be staged on 20th July. Favourite Laurel and Hardy films, rarities and surprises will be on the screen from 11.00am till 11.00pm. There will be a lookalike competition, a quiz, a sales stall and prizes to be won. Food and drink will be available throughout the day. Everyone is welcome.
