I liked the Sauchiehall Centre as a kid, all the fountains and the greeny light there.

Sauchiehall Street has too much "street furniture" these days, plus the part outside McDonalds was really really sticky on Saturday.

Does anyone remember Dallas's which was situated in Cowcaddens. I think a multi storey car park now stands on the spot, either that or flats. Dallas's dosappeared way back at the beginning of the seventies I think.

Not just that but how bloody BUSY was it on Saturday!! I walked from the Charing Cross end down to the concert hall and it took me ages, I know it was a Saturday and all, but it's not usually that bad!!

I can remember it too, used to go up town as a treat with my parents, was a visit to woolies (the original one), then into sauchiehall street.

I remember Dallas's.

I bought a woollen herringbone-patterned coat in there, in the sale, with £4 from my first proper wage packet in 1970.

Lewis's's's's's' was Christmas present heaven for kids; mechano, lego, kerplunk.

As a side-issue on big shops, earlier in the year I was going up the big Virgin Megastore escalator with my Sainsburys shopping bag and my pasta jar came out the bag right at the top and bounced down and smashed. If someone had been behind me there could have been a Begbie 'Some Lassie Joost Gote Glessed!' incident. It smashed at the bottom and I came straight back down on the other escalator and out the shop. It happened so quick that it must have looked like a protest of some kind. No one knew where the pasta came from; Italy I suppose.
